Australian dedicated IPs

On a normal VPN server you share an IP address with hundreds of strangers. A dedicated IP is yours alone: an Australian address that stays the same wherever you are.

The short version

  • Surfshark, NordVPN, CyberGhost, Private Internet Access and ExpressVPN sell an Australian dedicated IP, usually as a paid add-on.
  • It helps with banks, CAPTCHAs and work systems that only accept known addresses.
  • It's less private than a shared IP, because everything from that address is you.

Why you'd want one

The trade-off: privacy

A shared IP hides you in a crowd. A dedicated IP doesn't: anything done from it is you. Mullvad won't sell one for that reason, saying a dedicated IP "is not aligned with privacy since it somehow has to be linked to a user" (Mullvad).

Others try to break the link between your account and the address. CyberGhost, PIA and ExpressVPN give you a token to redeem in the app, so the IP isn't stored against your payment details (CyberGhost, PIA, ExpressVPN). Surfshark's terms offer an "anonymous Dedicated IP" option that removes the record linking the IP to your account, but you give up the refund (Surfshark). NordVPN links its dedicated IPs to your email address.

Which VPNs sell one

Prices for the add-on change often and are rarely on the providers' feature pages, so check at checkout. ExpressVPN includes one in its Pro plan; see what that plan costs in our bundles guide.
